Huge Title
A song from the "Anxiety of Influence," playlist by Professor Ottum, called "Myself When I Am Real by Charles Mingus, was different from what I usually listen to, but I did like the piano on the song, I always thought that the piano is an interesting instrument, to perfect the art of learning to play the instrument takes so much dedication.
Another song from the playlist that was enjoyable, was the song by Nina Simone, which is called Com' By H'Yere Good Lord, which says not word for word, that someone who is suffering, like dying for them to go to heaven peacefully, so they no longer suffer and are pain-free which is heartbreaking but true if a person is not feeling well and that is what someone wants, then there loved ones should be supportive of their decision. It's saying for God to visit to end the person's suffering.
The last song, I chose is by the band Bonny Light Horseman, The song has the same title, it has a melodic feel to it, and hearing the guitar on the song is another instrument I like and that I find interesting, it also sounds like for few parts of the song there was a violin being played, things like that in music is very therapeutic.
The three impressions I have chosen are Piano, Melodic, and Guitar since those were the three things I enjoyed the most, and I made a song on Bandlab.
The song, I put together, is close to two minutes, the first piece has eight bars and to look it up, it's called Relieve_Chill_Loop_E_Keys_8bars, and it's a piano, it's the first and fourth beat and the second and fifth, is called MTT124_Bm_Lead_01_8bars, which is a guitar, and it's eight bars as well, and the third and sixth are melodic and the beat, I chose is called MTT_124_Bm_Lead_01_8bars, and each time it plays it's eight beats also.
The reasoning behind choosing Piano, Guitar, as well as Melodic, is that millions of people play the Piano as well as Guitar, and millions of people have a love for Melodic type music.
The second assignment, which is titled Diatonic/Direct Song, was to make a song, basically expressing myself, and mention an item near or a situation, I am in or was in, so I discussed my love for makeup, it is a passion that I do enjoy, that millions of people enjoy, I have so much.
And I also discussed how I am very family orientated, I am always with them, do something, whether it's shopping with them, going out of town, or when it's hockey, we go to Condor's games and MLB and NBA games.
I also mentioned the weather, since it will be cooling down soon, and the only thing enjoyable about the summer was going to the beach or swimming, cooler weather means it will be Halloween soon and it will be time for trick or treating and passing out candy and Thanksgiving will be time for turkey, which is exciting and Christmas means presents, as well as family, get-togethers and New Years Eve and New Years Day mean new year and new goals, which is exciting.
The gym and going on walks are great hobbies of mine that I had to mention, it's my time to not worry about anything such as homework as well as chores at home, millions of people love fitness.
I mentioned lastly music, since I love music, I am in choir in college, I have a microphone and wish to someday buy a guitar, but they can be pricey and I am left-handed, and since there aren't too many left-handed people, there isn't too many left-handed guitars, but someday, I will buy one.
The title I chose for the song, is called "This is me," it's expressing myself, mentioning my love for makeup and my family as well as fitness and music.
The background music for the song, I chose came from the music playlist called Real & Ruthless: Soul R&B Vol. 1, with the beats titled, the first one, "Blaze_808_140_G#m_4bars," the second one titled "Peche_808_140_Dm_4bars," the third one titled, "Mask_808_140_Gm_4bars," and the fourth and final one titled, "Ame_808_140_Gm_4bars, each played two times.
The third assignment which is the Blues assignment, was the most fun and most challenging so far this semester, since I could not figure out how to make the piano appear, I watched a video on YouTube and kept watching it over and over again, until I finally got the hang of it, and took a few times to figure out how to record the sound, but then I got it and was relieved when I finally did.
The blues assignment I would say is my favorite so far this semester, as I mentioned, it was the most challenging but the most fun, since I grew up listening to Blues, because that is what my dad likes, so because of that it was enjoyable.
The fourth assignment, which is called the Archaeologist assignment, is about stitching small song ideas together, there have to be four, songwriting in general, it is challenging, but interesting as well as fun, it gets you thinking, which I like, the four-song ideas are different but are also in a way connected, here are the four, I came up with.
1.) I remember how there is so much sadness, and how I dealt with so many obstacles when I was younger.
2.) I remember being told how I was a premie, which was one of many obstacles in life.
3.) I remember feeling the heartache when a loved one passed away, with so much sadness and grief.
4.) I remember feeling different from others because there were delays, I went through, but I concurred with them.
And for the chords, I went with the first seven, C5, F, G, A, G, D, and F, and the second seven D, C4, F, A, G, F, and D.
I went with the D scale, I wanted to change it up a bit since on Bandlab it is automatically set to C scale and it was set to Octave 3, so kept it on Octave 3, and the first seven chords, are major scale and the second seven are set to a minor scale.
I tried my best with the assignment, I thought the assignment before this assignment was the most challenging, so far this semester, but this one is for sure.
I also used a suggestion from the Professor by starting with I remember, so that's what I did, just writing and thinking of things, I remember from when I was a kid, it was challenging for me as a kid, so I hope the Professor understands a little more about me, this assignment was enjoyable.
The fifth assignment for the class, which is called "Translator," was to come up with lyrics, as the weeks have been going on, it's gotten a little easier to come up with lyrics, in the beginning, it was difficult, but it is still enjoyable, I picked four of the starting phrases as the Professor suggested, the first I chose is I am shocked, the second I chose is I am sad, the third I chose is I am happy and the last one I chose is I want to feel loved, and this is what I came up with,
1.) I am shocked at how so many murders go unsolved.
2.) I am sad that so many remain unsolved.
3.) I am happy for the winter time, winter time is the best time.
4.) I want to feel loved, I do feel loved.
And as for the poem by Maya Angelou, I chose the first poem, which is
A free bird leaps on the back of the wind and floats downstream til the current ends and dips his wing in the orange sun rays and dares to claim the sky.
I changed it to
A bird that feels free jumps behind the wind, flying down the river just til the current finishes.
The bird puts her wing into the orange sun and is eager to touch the sky.
I came up with the idea for the song because there are so many murders that go unsolved, it's a sad thing, and some go unsolved for ten years or longer, like thirty years or over one hundred years, the background music, which I found on Bandlab, it's called Madness_165D#m_Plucks_8bars, I repeated it three times, so in total it is one minute and twelve seconds and the singing from myself is one and seven seconds, the background music from Bandlab is D major, I believe.
The poem I included it in the song, wasn't if I should or not, so I included it.
The sixth assignment is to make a song, which is titled "Unreliable Narrator Assignment," or I call it making a diss track, which is a song where a person is insulting a person or to make a song about a situation that someone endeared.
The lyrics I wrote, are I can't believe I dealt with your bs for so long, blinded by love, wasted so much of my time on you.
So many sleepless nights she is crying, so many times, dealing with BS for nearly five years, so much heartbreak.
You tell me you love me, but I never believed you, you just told me things I wanted to hear.
I know I wasn't the only one, you're so childish and you're a father, you are so immature.
You still try begging for another chance but I can not go down that path again, men like you will never learn, I despise you.
You did the ultimate betrayal, the unthinkable, I can't forgive you ever for that.
This was the saddest song for me to write because I kept everything bottled up, my family only knows some things but not every detail of this ordeal I went through, my best friend knows every detail.
The loops I found on Bandlab, that I felt fit the song, is called Betrayal_68_Piano_D_2bar and Betrayal_68_KicknSnare_2bar, I put them each two times, the first one is piano and the second I put the snare one and the third I put the piano one again and the fourth I put the snare one again, the total time is fifty-six seconds and it's on D major.
The last assignment for this class was writing just now hit me that the class is ending. Since I did enjoy this class, writing the songs and coming up with songs, was enjoyable and strangely relaxing, because I got to write my thoughts and express myself, which I liked a lot.
The song, I thought was a rap song, that everyone had to come up with, so I decided to make a rap song about all the cats, I have.
I have five, which are named Asia, Berry, Chester, Stanley, and Claire, I went from the youngest to the oldest, and at the end of the song, I included the audio of the oldest cat Claire growling and hissing at our other cat, Stanley, since he bothers her a lot.
Here are the lyrics,
1.) Having five cats, they all sat around, they are fat.
2.) They sleep most of the day, especially Claire, I call her my roommate since she sleeps with me every night.
3.) They are very bright, they also occasionally bite.
4.) They can be mean towards one another, their litter boxes has to be cleaned three times a day.
5.) Stanley always bothers Claire, she often hisses at Stanley, the others can be affectionate towards one another and kisses each other.
6.) Chester is more aggressive, will scratch, he'll try to catch you to bite
The loop I chose from Bandlab is called "Hip-Hop Bass Loop 03, and it's repeated four times.
And it's on C minor.
